Therapy for Trauma and Complex PTSD

You know the trauma in the past, but your body, mind and emotions still respond like they are stuck in time.

Sometimes you get so flooded with anxiety and dread you can’t stay present, and you don’t always even know what happened or what was upsetting.

You have a hard time focusing and you feel tight and agitated because you are always scanning for the next horrible thing, even when - maybe even especially when - everything looks fine from the outside.

You can’t sleep, the nightmares are still there, and it just feels like you can never really rest.

Living through the trauma was horrible, and the way it continues to sit in your mind and body is torture. Feeling like you can never move past it can be overwhelming and draining. And when it seems like everyone around you can move on in life, you are left feeling stuck and alone.

It’s time to tap into the hope that has been keeping you moving and finally resolve what talking about it alone could not shift.

You don’t have to hold your trauma alone

My clients see changes happen over time as they start to understand how their experiences shaped them, appreciate how they protected themselves, and bravely take some steps to do things a bit differently. With therapy we can see relationships stabilize, emotions feel less chaotic and reactive, self worth improve, and foster a sense of relaxed control in life. The world starts looking like a safer place.

I am ready to listen to your hard stories, while creating a safe space so you can find ways to retell your story and find some peace with the past. I believe consistency helps build connection, trust and results so I ask that we meet weekly. I use EMDR and work with your parts and nervous system so we can begin to see old responses in new ways. Because we hold trauma in our body, we may use movement and somatic techniques to help you heal in ways that talking alone can’t.  We are in it together every step of the way and I’m supporting and questioning, explaining, grounding.
